The historic town of Midleton started by Cistercian monks in 1180 building there monastery beside the Owenacurra river. Midleton was a market town and is where the Murphy family opened a distillery making whiskey in 1825.

4 February 1963 saw the last train to Youghal

This railway built in the early 1860s linking Cork and Youghal, but after David Leopold Lewis became bankrupt who was a major shareholder in the railway it was consumed by Great Southern and Western Railway. More……..
